I am admittedly not a romance novel expert, but I am desperate to find the author or title of a book my husband threw out last year. Since becoming pregnant it seems I can get enough reading material and have had such a itch to re-read this book but can't for the life of me remember the author or title. I bought it at a garage sale and it was such wonderful book, but my husband chucked it and some other jems in a spring cleaning. If you can indulge me I'll sum up the premise and maybe you may have heard of it. Here goes: The heroine is the ward of a terrible drunkard uncle who upon the death of her parents lets her family home go into disrepair. He loses the family home in a card game to a man he meets in London I think who is actually a gentleman investigating the death of his brother. She becomes his ward after uncle dies early in book, but heroine runs away to her friend, a pirate or smuggler. Her pirate/smuggler friend agrees to help her get away from gentleman but he finds them and somehow he seduces heroine and they are forced to marry by pirate/smuggler friend. Gentleman grudgingly takes girl with him to next city where he hopes to continue his search for the murderer of his friend. Heroine escapes him again and stays with family of man she rescues from bandits and gets involved in some sort of labor rights organization. Gentleman finds her and takes her back to city and allows her to continue her labor movement stuff as they fall in love with eachother (naturally). It all ends with a labor riot and the eventual happily ever after.
Sorry - I KNOW I read this book and keep a "read" list of books and their authors from the past 2 years or so.. HOWEVER- I DO NOT KNOW WHAT ONE THIS WAS - I read soo many books! Maybe I should start putting little descriptions in my list??:--).. If you can remember anything about it - like part of the title or part of the authors name? maybe I can narrow it down for you..
I wish I could remember anything, but I can't. I've done a million google searches to try and find either the title and author, but no dice. I'd love it if you could skim through your list if you had a chance, I'd be willing to make it worth your time! I know a great place that delivers chocolate covered strawberries!!!!! Thanks!!!!!!!
