Hi.  I read this book in the 80's.  Main woman moves in with two men (I believe they are brothers).  The main man is very moody and a woman hater that has something to do with a mystery about his stepmom.  The brother is a villian which you find out at end of story.  The main man is constantly scaring the main woman when she is walking around in the dark and all of a sudden she will see his "cheroot" light up in the dark.  Any help would be appreciated.  Even a name of the characters if you recall.  Thanks.
