Ringing any bells?

Hi everyone,

I got a message from a fellow historical romance reader looking for an oldie, but a goodie. It sounds great but nothing is coming to mind (anyone surprised?) Here's what she had to say about it:

"Greetings! I'm hoping you might be able to help me, I'm searching for a book I read when I was pregnant years ago--husband boxed it up and gave it to good will. Can't remember the name of the book or author and am desperate--again find myself with some time to kill :)

It's about a girl who is in the guardianship of her uncle who loses her and her families home to a stranger (a viscount I think) in a card game--uncle commits suicide that night and she runs away to her firend who is a pirate or smuggler. Viscount (who is actually trying to find his brother's killer) tracks her down, seduces her and then is forced to marry her by her smuggler/pirate friend to guard her honor. Looong story he continues his search for brother's killer taking her/falling in love with her etc. Uses her to help him maintain a good front while investigating and looking for murderer/at some point she runs away both realize they love each other but she gets mixed up in organizing some sort of worker uprising--complicated, I know that's why it was such a great book. Please help!!! "

I hope it sounds familiar to someone....

Jenn
