I read this book over ten years ago. I don't remember the title or the author.
It was a historical romance. I think the female character was named Casandra or Cassie. I don't remember the man's name. She was friends with his neice who gets sick and dies (along with her husband) leaving 2 twin babies behind. The man comes over to see his niece and Casandra pretends to be his niece so she can take care of the babies. I think she promised her dying friend she would take care of them. She goes back to America with him bringing along her friend Diane or Diana (who ends up being horrible and evil).
