I too have a book which I know the story but not the title or author, which I read many years ago. Here it goes...
A woman is sailing across an ocean on route to her betroth when suddenly the ship is captured by pirates. The Captain of the pirate ship captures her and her maid and brings her aboard his ship. He forces her to have sex with him to ensure the crew of the captured ship is safe. She spends several weeks in his company, having lots of sex with him <g>. During her time on the pirate ship, one of the crew gets fresh and tries to rape her. The crew member is flogged by the Captain. Finally she is either freed by the Captain or she escapes, but she reaches her destination, only to be captured by the pirate who was flogged, but she manages to escape, finally reaching her betroth who welcomes her with open arms. While she's sleeping, the Captain of the pirate ship realizes he can't life with out her. So he sneaks onto the estate and after listening in on a conversation with her betroth, kidnaps her from her room and takes her aboard his ship where they sail away to his secret hide out. She falls in love with him and becomes very pregnant. It turns out that the Pirate is actually a nobleman seeking revenge against the pirate who raped and murdered his mother, seeing it all with his own eyes as a child. They go to a Dutch Port (?) while she is heavy with child and the Pirate's nemisis discovers them and captures her. Tying her to a book case? as she goes into labour, so that when she gives birth, her child with die. The Pirate comes to her rescue, kills his enemy and everyone live happily ever after.
If anyone knows the title or name of the author, please let me know, as this story as plagued me for years.
I just wanted to thank everyone for their help. But especially hot 4 romance, as she was correct. I just did a search for A Pirate's Love by Joanna Lindsey, and yes that was the book which I had read many years ago. Now, I'll have to go out and buy a copy.
You're welcome Angela, I was happy to help. Really, after reading your story, I started digging through my boxes of books (my husband keeps pestering me to throw out), to find the book in question. I found that one, and two others that are great rereads. Now I have 3 wonderful books to help me through the snow storm.
