I cannot recall the name or the author of this book. However, I remember a bit of the plot line. It begins with a young woman, she is living with her mother's family in Tennessee or Kentucky area. Her father has just died and he left her a ranch in either Arizona or New Mexico. As per the will, he has his foreman travel to tell his daughter about her inheritance. She goes west with this man, by covered wagon. I believe that at some point on the wagon train, she is kidnapped by Indian- or rather, outlaws masquerading as Indians. They take her to San Francisco where she is sold in a white slave type market. She is bought by a man who is an interior designer. He wants her as an assistant and nothing else. He is a nice guy. The foreman finally finds her and takes her back to her ranch. There is more of the story. Something about a scarlett dress and a dance at the ranch, but I am a bit fuzzy on those details. Can you please help me? Suggestions would be welcome.
